FESTIVAL OF THE SEA
The next Festival of the Sea to be held in Portsmouth
will be in 2009,
The 2005 festival was held same year that Portsmouth was
celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
As you can see from the pictures below, the 2001 show was not only a festival of
the sea but also included the RAF and the ARMY. The first picture below was
taken just before the 2:30pm kick off of the Mock Battle which took place in the
Main Basin.
Ships of all shapes and size's were at the show, we have picked a few that
other site's have not shown.
The ship on the left of this picture has so many people on her left side that
she is listing quite badly.

Click any of the pictures above for a better view.
A Great Show, LOTS to see and do, queues were quite long to see the ships
from the USA and CANADA but not half as long as the one for HMS Illustrious. The
Next time this event is on PLEASE come down to Portsmouth and see it.
- The only BAD points that we could bring to your attention were:
- 1) The COST of FOOD and WATER at the event (and you were NOT allowed back
in once you left)
- 2) The LACK of SEATS..! OLD PEOPLE COME TO THE SHOW TOO Mr. P. Workman..!
- 3) Due to KIDS, this years fireworks were two bangs and that's all folks.
